My homage to Erica

I decided to go ahead and post this even though it isn't anywhere near as beautiful as Erica's paintings. She inspired me to do a self portrait with my favorite colors. I added eyeshadow and blush too. A little bella bling and some primas. I also added some torn paper and then decoupaged that.

Wonderful! Today, at Barnes&Noble, I was looking at some delightful artwork similar to yours (Maybe a Somerset mag.) and I purposed in my heart to try. I want to try and do some of the delightful (is it folkart?) Yes, you must come and enjoy the snow - we can x-country ski, drink coffee (spiked with something special) and teach me to paint.

Veronica, god love ya, if you don't STOP PUTTING YOUR ART DOWN I'm putting my size 9 up your butt!!! Let Erica be the inspiration, then make it your own, as you did here, THEN DON'T COMPARE!!! Your self portrait is gorgeous, see it for what it is, let it stand alone! It IS as beautiful as Erica's ... what is the matter with you! You are an artist, get that tattoo'd on your brain and quick.

OH MY GOSH! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Can I buy it? you did great, super, wonderful, perfect..x3! The lashes are WONDERFUL! HEHE! I do have to tell you a story becuase you sound like "little Erica" when I was around 26 yrs old. Believe it or not, I did not start painting until around 7 years ago. yes, I have only been an artist for 7 years.....
My mother is a WONDERFUL ARTIST. She can paint me under the table. When I was a little girl, I tried to paint, even with her trying to help me...I would throw it away. At 13, I gave up...I SAID I WOULD NEVER LEARN TO PAINT AND I NEVER PAINTED AGAIN....sniff sniff....
At 26, I had a beautiful baby boy. He was SO SICK all the time, and I had to stay home. Well, I had to make money too, so I got the OLD brushes out, and I started painting. I painted and painted and painted (without my mom knowing). Finally, I painted something that almost looked like a pumpkin.
My mother came over, and noticed that I was painting, and cried. She was SO happy (even though they were not "as good as hers"). She still comes over and I am in the studio, and she comments ... I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU ARE PAINTING. IT LOOKS SO FUNNY. WHO KNEW ALL THAT TALENT WAS HIDDEN IN THERE... AND THEN SHE SAYS ... I KNEW....
Now, I paint NOTHING like my mother. I mean NOTHING. She is a true folk artists, and her strokes are much better than mine. Even though others think my art is great, I do not think it is "as good" but my mother tells me it's better...becuase it is my own.
Now, I am going to tell you the same thing...
Yours is better than mine, because it is your own, in your own strokes, and from your heart. There is not one other person out there that can do what you just did, and that is what makes you an artist, a wonderful one .. I might add. Hugs to you!

You are an artist thru and thru, my dear. From the tip of your nose to the tip of your toes. And as the artist, you "monku" about your work... lol! Funny how our own work never compares... so let's stop comparing and start creating!

Your art... I love it. It's beautiful. Best of all, it's yours. Every stroke, every detail, every embellishment... all yours. It's delightful. ~ Jane
